Transits from Lagna or Moonsign

This article is meant to address the long standing question – how to see Transits especially of major planets like Saturn, Jupiter, Rahu & Ketu.

Most astrologers advise seeing the transit results from the Moon sign. This has been the traditonal way of seeing Transit results. However, there is a growing school of thought which says that if we are making all predictions and interpretations by seeing the Lagna chart then why transit results should not be seen from the Lagna itself.

We would try to clear the confusion to best of our abilities:

In Vedic Astrology:

  • Lagna = Bhava Sharir → physical life, karma, events, actions

  • Moon = Manasmind, emotions, perception, stress, psychological response

👉 A transit from Lagna shows what happens
👉 The same transit from Moon shows how it feels

Both are true simultaneously, but they operate on different planes.

How Planetary Core Attributes Express Differently?

We will consider the 4 major planets ( in terms of duration of the transit) – which are Saturn, Jupiter, Rahu and Ketu and see how to understand their transit results in context of Lagna and the Moonsign.

Saturn Transits

Key Attributes of Saturn – Discipline · Structure · Hard work · Resilience

When seen From Lagna (Physical / External), it would reflect as:

  • Increased responsibility, workload, and karmic pressure
  • Delays, restructuring, long-term effort demanded
  • Life forces maturity through events (career, health, duties)

📌 Result-oriented, visible, tangible

However when seen From Moon (Mental / Internal), this would translate to following:

  • Feeling mentally burdened, serious, or emotionally heavy
  • Reduced emotional spontaneity
  • Need for patience, emotional discipline, and inner stability

📌 Even if life improves externally, the mind may feel strained

Jupiter Transits

Key Attributes of Jupiter are : Expansion · Enhancement · Wisdom · Growth

Jupiter transits when seen from Lagna mean the following:

  • Expansion in career, finances, status, learning, family
  • Opportunities, protection, grace in life events
  • Growth that is visible and measurable

But the same Jupiter transit when seen from Moon would reflect the following:

  • Mental optimism, hope, clarity, faith
  • Emotional healing and confidence
  • Improved decision-making and emotional wisdom

📌 Jupiter from Moon often feels good even before results appear

Rahu & Ketu Transits

Key attributes of Rahu are : Confusion · Complexity · Obsession · Amplification

Rahu transits when seen from Lagna signify:

  • Sudden changes, unconventional events
  • Foreign elements, ambition spikes, material hunger
  • Life becomes fast-paced or unpredictable

But when seen from Moon, they reflect as:

  • Mental restlessness, anxiety, overthinking
  • Obsessions, illusions, fear of missing out
  • Difficulty trusting one’s emotional judgment

📌 Rahu from Moon often feels chaotic even if success comes

About Ketu:

Key Attributes are : Detachment · Phobia · Withdrawal · Moksha impulse

Ketu Transit significations when we consider from Lagna are:

  • Sudden separations, disinterest in material areas
  • Loss of attachment to roles, relationships, or achievements
  • External withdrawal or simplification of life

But when you see it from Moon, it means the following:

  • Emotional numbness or disconnection
  • Phobias, confusion, spiritual dissatisfaction
  • Feeling “empty” despite things being okay outwardly

📌 Ketu from Moon is more disturbing than from Lagna

The Golden Rule

A transit is thus to be seen from both Lagna and the Moon sign.

Lagna based transits decide the events of life while Moon sign based interpretations identify the emotional cost of the events!

Why Saturn Transit like Sadhe Saati Is Primarily Seen from Moon?

Sadhe Saati impact on life can be understood with the help of below given logic.

Saturn’s core job is emotional maturity through pressure.
When Saturn hits the Moon:

  • The mind becomes the battlefield
  • Life may still function, but peace is tested

That is why Sadhe Saati is psychological first, material second. If one gets it right then managing any difficult results from Sadhe Saati will not be difficult!
