What is Antardasha?

Dasha is a very important part of the overall prediction techniques system.

The Dasha system is divided into Mahadasha ( Major period), Antardasha ( Minor Period), and Pratyantardasha ( Sub Minor Period).

In this article, we will discuss about Antar Dasha also known as Bhukti or Minor Period. Mahadashas run for a very long period of time or span, extending into years and they are broken down into smaller divisions that are known as Antar Dashas or Bhuktis.

Bhuktis can further be broken down into smaller subdivisions called Pratyantar ( Sub Minor Periods) and in fact, Pratyantars can further be broken down into even smaller sub divisions called Sukshma Pratyantars ( Sub Sub Minor Period).

Most Astrologers primarily use only Mahadasha and Antardasha to put forward their predictions. This is perhaps due to the fact that birth times may not be accurately recorded in many cases and even a difference of 3 minutes or more will impart a change in the Sukshma or Pratyantar Dasha.
