July 2026 – Panchang & Festivals

The month of July sees the usual multiple transits of faster moving planets. Sun, Mars, Venus, Mercury and obviously the Moon.

The bigger planets like Saturn and Jupiter also see significant planetary changes. Jupiter gets combust and Saturn gets retrograde in the month of July. Mercury continues its unusually long stay in Punarvasu nakshatra during the July. Venus also has an uncomfortable interaction with Ketu during this month.

The planetary chief of justice, hard work and discipline – Saturn becomes retrograde for a good 4-month period in Pisces sign. While Shanidev turning retrograde is an annual phenomenon, many astrology believers feel that the impact is clear and distinct for many people especially those who are anyways going through a difficult Saturn transit like Sadhe Saati or Kantak or Ashtam Shani dhaiyya.

One of the most pious and spiritual Hindu months of Saavan starts on July 30. Considered to be the favorite time period of the Super Merciful Lord Shiva, the month allows the followers of Sanatan Dharma to undergo a spiritual catharsis.

Major Planetary Transits – July 2026

A planet-by-planet guide to the sky’s movements this month, and what each one asks of us.

Mars in Taurus – Until Aug 2

Moved from fiery Aries into steady Taurus on June 20th, a sign where it isn’t fully at home. Saturn’s aspect keeps the pace cautious, while Mars projects its force onto Leo, Scorpio, and Sagittarius.

This is a month for steady progress on work already underway — home, garden, or business tasks needing patience and precision. Best used to nudge stuck, fixed-sign situations forward, not to rush them.

Jupiter in Cancer in Pushya Nakshatra

Enjoying its strongest placement through October, Jupiter brings genuine growth energy tied to purpose, expansion, and abundance.

Its aspect reaches Capricorn, Scorpio, and Pisces — a rare bright counter to Saturn’s long restrictive phase since 2020.

From July 13–Aug 12, Jupiter turns combust, peaking exactly on the 29th. Read it as weakened or amplified; either way, keep nurturing what you’re growing.

Venus in Leo from July 4 – 31

Venus leaves its comfortable pairing with Jupiter in Cancer for a tougher spot in Leo.

It meets obstructive Ketu around July 9–10, which could bring creative breakthroughs or hard truths about relationships and negotiations. Mars’ aspect from Taurus adds passionate but turbulent energy.

By month’s end, Venus moves into Virgo, closing out the Kala Amrita Yoga pattern that has shaped much of 2026.

Mercury Retrograde Ends July 23

Mercury re-enters its home sign of Gemini on July 7th while still retrograde, then turns direct on July 23rd at 23° Gemini. It also goes combust with the Sun during this stretch.

The classic advice applies: slow down, double-check, revise rather than push forward. A good window for resuming a dropped project or re-learning something with fresh humility.

Sun in Cancer from July 16 – Aug 16

The Sun joins Jupiter in Cancer for its annual retreat, bringing focus to home, family, sensitivity, and emotional life.

It moves toward an exact conjunction with Jupiter on July 29th at 13° Cancer — the main driver of Jupiter’s combustion this month. Otherwise a calm transit, mostly about big, bright, clarifying energy.

Saturn Retrograde begins July 26/27

Saturn begins its roughly 4.5-month retrograde at 21° Pisces, Revati nakshatra, continuing through December 12th.

Retrograde Saturn can loosen or intensify its usual restrictive themes unpredictably, and echoes the 2025 retrograde — also in Pisces — so old patterns may resurface.

General advice: take the risk rather than waiting for perfect conditions.

Moon Phases –Key Dates

New Moon in Gemini/Punarvasu on July 14th joins retrograde Mercury — a time for self-honesty about what you truly want, and caution against false bursts of energy.

On the 16th, the Moon joins Venus and Ketu in Leo, opening new pathways. The Full Moon in Capricorn/Shravana on July 29th coincides with the Jupiter–Sun conjunction, closing the month on an especially calm, sattvic note.

Positions and timings follow the sidereal (Vedic) zodiac.
